The AIHW has three units working across maternal and perinatal health and sexual and reproductive health:

  • Maternal & Perinatal Health Unit
  • Perinatal Data Unit
  • Sexual & Reproductuive Health Unit

About you

The MPHU, PDU, and SaRHU are seeking a Maternity Sector Advisor to contribute to their work programs and provide broader strategic advice to the AIHW. The ideal candidate will bring experience in maternal and perinatal health, with a strong focus on data use, routine reporting, and quality improvement, including clinical governance and performance management.

The role is up to 24 months with the possibility of extension.

Under general direction you will:

  • lead consultations with the maternity sector, including service providers, policy makers and other entities, to ensure the AIHW data and reporting is aligned with clinical practice and maternity service needs
  • advise and support teams to design and deliver high quality information and data products that reflect the needs of the maternity sector, including through providing insights based on clinical experiences and consultations
  • work collaboratively with other Executive officers to provide leadership, direction, and the effective management of resources
  • support improvements to data collection, validation, analysis and reporting processes and systems
  • contribute to the provision of secretariat support for various committees
  • write reports, briefings, agenda papers and business cases and give presentations to different audiences
  • liaise and negotiate with other areas of the AIHW, and represent the Group/Unit at meetings

To be eligible to apply for this vacancy, you must

  • Obtain and maintain a valid Security Clearance if required by the institute.

A probationary period of six months will apply to any new engagement to the APS.
