This role will be working within the Building & Planning Department who are looking for an enthusiastic and team focused Municipal Building Surveyor who will lead Council processes comply the requirements of the Local Government Act, Building Act, Building Regulations and the Building Code of Australia as detailed by Council's delegation schedule.

About youYou are experienced in building control matters and will have the following experience and attributes:

  • Registered Building Practitioner in the category of Building Surveyor - Unlimited
  • Prior experience in coordinating and ability to lead the efficient operation of the Building Services Team in all statutory, regulatory, and administrative functions.
  • Highly developed research, analytical, oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing a high level of customer service
  • An understanding of risk management principles and ability to implement these principles
  • Previous local government experience of at least 7 years in a senior position in a building department with a preference for experience as a deputy municipal building surveyor or a senior building surveyor
  • At least 7 years experience in leading, co-ordinating and mentoring a team
