Job Title: Part-Time Gallery Sales & Social Media Specialist

Location: Port Melbourne, VIC

Employment Type: Part-Time (Flexible Hours)

Compensation: Base Salary + Commission

We are a contemporary art gallery located in the heart of Port Melbourne. Our mission is to make art accessible, engaging, and a part of everyday life. We're looking for a dynamic, creative, and sales-driven individual to join our team in a dual role: in-gallery sales and social media management.

Key Responsibilities:

Sales & Client Engagement:

  • Greet and engage gallery visitors, offering insights and information about the artist
  • Drive in-gallery and online sales through professional, consultative service
  • Maintain and grow relationships with collectors, designers, and potential buyers
  • Assist in the coordination and hosting of exhibition openings and events
  • Handle sales transactions, invoices, and client records

Social Media & Digital Presence:

  • Create and manage engaging content across Instagram, Facebook, and other platforms
  • Develop social media campaigns to promote exhibitions, new arrivals, and events
  • Monitor analytics to optimise reach and engagement
  • Collaborate on newsletter and blog content where needed
  • Respond to inquiries and messages in a timely, professional manner

About You:

  • Proven experience in retail, art sales, or a similar customer-facing role
  • Demonstrated ability to close sales and meet targets
  • Strong social media management skills with a creative eye for content
  • Interest in contemporary art and design is highly desirable
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated, well-organised, and confident working independently
  • Comfortable using POS systems, email marketing tools, and social media scheduling platforms
