The Opportunity

Melbourne City FC is seeking a standalone Human Resources Manager to lead the Club's HR functions across football, commercial, administration, and community programs. Reporting to the CEO, this role will be instrumental in shaping the Club's organisational culture and supporting a high-performance workforce that is professional, dedicated, cohesive, and passionate about creating a lasting legacy together.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee recruitment, talent acquisition, and workforce planning for football, administration, and commercial departments
  • Partner directly with senior leaders, coaches, and department heads to build capability and performance
  • Manage the full employee lifecycle, from onboarding and development to performance and progression
  • Lead HR policy development, compliance, and risk management in accordance with Australian legislation and CFG expectations
  • Oversee remuneration, contracts, and payroll coordination in partnership with Finance
  • Provide advice on employee relations, conduct, workplace culture, and return-to-work matters
  • Partner on organisational design, structural improvements, and change initiatives
  • Strengthen staff engagement and connection to Club values, mission, and community impact

About You

You are an HR professional with at least 5 years' experience who values culture as a foundation for success and thrives in high-performance, fast-moving environments.  You have the ability to form strong relationships, communicate with clarity, and are comfortable partnering with leaders, coaches, and staff at all levels.

You will bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Business, or related discipline
  • 5+ years' experience in HR management or advisory roles
  • Strong expertise in Australian employment law and HR best practice
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills
  • A collaborative mindset, discretion, and deep integrity
  • A passion for sport, high-performance teams, and creating meaningful organisational impact
