The Species and Communities Program coordinates the listing, management and recovery of threatened species, ecological communities and wetlands. The program provides policy, strategic and technical advice on fauna, flora, ecological community and wetland conservation, and manages projects for the promotion of conservation on land not managed by the department.
We are seeking to establish a pool of suitable applicants in the role of Biodiversity Conservation Officer or Senior Biodiversity Conservation Officer.
At an experienced level (SC Level 2) or senior professional level (SC Level 3):
This position contributes to the conservation and management of conservation significant species and ecological communities through expert advice, assessments under the Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016, policy development, written reports, and input to other processes as they arise.

Selection Criteria
Applicants should address the following five (5) criteria. These should be addressed in no more than three (3) pages in total.

High level expertise (SC Level 3) or experience and expertise (SC Level 2) in the field of biodiversity conservation related to threatened species and ecological communities, including knowledge of and experience in biodiversity conservation legislation and policy (SC Level 3).

Well-developed (SC Level 3) or demonstrated (SC Level 2) ability to source and synthesise complex scientific information for use in environmental impact assessment to inform decision making.

High level experience (SC Level 3) or proven ability (SC Level 2) in preparation of reports, submissions and correspondence to a high level.

Well-developed (SC Level 3) or strong (SC Level 2) verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate and negotiate with a broad range of stakeholders.
- Experience and expertise in supervision, guidance and mentoring of other staff in a team environment (SC Level 3) or ability to work effectively in a team environment to achieve common goals (SC Level 2).
