Location: Kensington, Western Australia

This role is responsible for monitoring, evaluating and reporting on the progress and outcomes of projects funded under the coral restoration stream of the Healthy Oceans grants program. It provides specialist advice on coral biology, ecology, restoration and research to the BCS Leader, Science Coordination, the Healthy Oceans Project Officer, grant applicants and the program's review and assessment panel. The position will lead development of a coral restoration report that documents learnings gained through the Healthy Oceans Program to guide future restoration activities.

Selection Criteria

  1. Broad knowledge of and experience in designing and implementing monitoring or research of marine benthic ecosystems (ESSENTIAL) or coral ecosystems (DESIRABLE).
  2. Proven ability to source and synthesise complex scientific information relating to conservation of marine ecosystems (ESSENTIAL) or coral ecosystems (DESIRABLE) to provide expert advice.
  3. Considerable experience in preparation of reports, submissions and correspondence relating to conservation and management of marine ecosystems (ESSENTIAL) or coral ecosystems (DESIRABLE).
  4. Well-developed written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills with an ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders.
