The Medical Service Group at Townsville University Hospital are seeking an experienced and outcome driven Clinical Nurse Consultant for a Project Officer role undertake the delivery and implementation of the North Queensland Primary Health Network funded Clinical Pathways in support of Residential Aged Care Homes – After Hours Project.

This is a temporary full-time role, until 30/06/2026.

About the opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to take a leading role in shaping better after‑hours care for residents of aged care homes in Townsville. As the Clinical Nurse Consultant - Project Officer, you will undertake the delivery and implementation of the North Queensland Primary Health Network funded Clinical Pathways in support of Residential Aged Care Homes (RACH) – After Hours Project.

You will be responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of initiatives by working with local RACH teams around the use of pathways to support the triage and management of residents at high risk of hospital admission with intention to reduce after hours emergency presentations.

The position requires a significant level of autonomy and ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders.  You will apply validated project methodologies to actively manage progress and provide change management advice and leadership to ensure project performance targets are achieved.

  • Salary range: $ $ p.f. (NG7)
  • 4 weeks annual leave (pro rata) with 17.5% loading

Requirements:

  • Qualification: Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent certification relevant to the position is mandatory.
  • Applicant ideally will have a working knowledge of a range of software packages used in the clinical and management environment, e.g., Microsoft Windows, Excel, Access, Matrix and Power Point.
  • Aged Care Pre-Employment Screening
  • This position requires the incumbent to operate a class C motor vehicle and an appropriate license endorsement to operate this vehicle is required. Proof of this endorsement must be provided prior to the commencement of duty.
  • This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role. Hepatitis B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Tuberculosis.
