What you'll be doing…

You will complete Certificate III in Engineering Mechanical over 4 years through a combination of formal training with a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and practical on-the-job experience with Zeal Futures and our host employers.

Throughout your formal training and practical experience in the workplace, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Read and interpret drawings and measure components
  • Mark out jobs, set up machines, prepare materials, tools and fixtures for machining
  • Manufacture, repair, and fitting of metal components for industrial machinery and other equipment
  • Undertake machining operations, such as lathes, drilling, reaming, milling, grinding and boring
  • Use hand and power tools and engineering techniques to maintain and repair mechanical plant, machinery, and equipment to operational standards
  • Work on CNC milling, lathes, vertical borer with 60 tonne table capacity
  • Strip, diagnose, repair, replace and assemble mechanical equipment

To be successful in this role, you'll need to meet the following selection criteria:

  • Commitment to both on and off the job training for full term of the apprenticeship
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, with a willingness to learn and develop
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Demonstrated interest in the mechanical trade
  • Ongoing commitment to safety, quality and principles of continuous improvement

Mandatory Requirements

  • A current drivers licence or access to reliable transport
  • Willingness to undergo pre-employment medical (spirometry, audiometry, drug and alcohol screening, and functional capacity assessment)
