The Opportunity
Are you a strategic scheduling leader who excels at transforming complex project data into a clear, actionable master plan? We're looking for a Principal Scheduler to take ownership of the entire scheduling function for a landmark Australian defence program. You'll lead a dedicated team, integrate diverse technical and commercial inputs, and build the critical path that drives program delivery. If you thrive on turning complexity into clarity and leading a team to execute with precision, this role places you at the heart of a nation-building enterprise.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide senior leadership and be the primary point of contact for all program and project scheduling.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 5+ Project Schedulers, ensuring high standards of performance and delivery.
- Develop, integrate, and maintain the Contract Master Schedule, assimilating technical, commercial, and resource information from multiple stakeholders.
- Drive the analysis of project schedules, identify and verify critical path activities, and communicate trends, risks, and opportunities to senior leadership.
- Champion continuous improvement by reviewing and streamlining scheduling systems, processes, and tools to enhance efficiency and data integrity.
- Engage confidently with project managers, engineering leads, and commercial teams to ensure schedules are robust, realistic, and aligned with program objectives.
About You
- Demonstrated experience in a senior or lead scheduling role within a complex project environment (defence, shipbuilding, or heavy engineering highly regarded).
- Proven experience leading, mentoring, and managing a team of schedulers.
- Advanced, hands-on proficiency with Primavera P6 is essential.
- Strong technical skills in data analysis and visualisation tools such as Excel, Power BI, Power Pivot, and SQL.
- A clear, confident communicator who can explain complex scheduling issues to a wide range of technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Must be eligible to obtain an Australian Department of Defence security clearance.
What's on Offer
- Competitive Salary Package: A base salary of $150,000 - $170,000 + Superannuation, dependent on experience.
- Relocation Support: Interstate candidates are encouraged to apply, with relocation assistance available for the right person.
- Program Impact: Play a pivotal leadership role in a long-term, nationally significant defence program.
- Supportive Environment: Join an experienced team of project delivery professionals with a strong, collaborative culture and a focus on continuous improvement.
