Role Snap Shot
We require an enthusiastic and capable person looking for a long-term future in our Urban Land Surveying team of 30 people, including 13 Licensed Surveyors to learn from. You will be trained and mentored into a "Taylors Surveyor" contributing to the success of our team, also giving you much personal satisfaction from your achievements. Initially you will work mainly in a field-based capacity, but for the right person, this will lead to role advancement based on your performance and your fit for higher duties - we will enable you to achieve your aspirations.
We will Develop you further in the following Areas
- Being compliant with all internal safety policies and procedures
- Doing good Re-establishment Surveys
- Efficient Feature & level surveys
- How to do smart and accurate Set-out Surveys (including control surveys and pegging in greenfield projects)
- As-constructed surveys
- Lease Area surveys
- To develop expertise in surveying fundamentals and the subdivision process.
- Undertake vehicle and equipment audits, including instrument calibrations
- To provide high-quality survey output in an accurate, timely and safe manner to achieve the best possible outcomes for our clients
- Undertake basic plan of survey drafting tasks as required.
- Learn about and be involved in our surveying work for the Urban Development Industry (small- and large-scale land and building subdivisions for residential and industrial purposes).
- Learn about and be involved in our cadastral work for state government (Big Build Projects and more, including interesting work for the Surveyor General Victoria), local government and authorities such as Melbourne Water and many others.
- Professional Development
- Participation in a structured formal Taylors internal PTA Program, where we actively support our PTA Candidates to progress through their training under the current system. This brings all candidates and supervising surveyors together to be accountable for achieving timely progress and ultimate success.

- Degree or Diploma qualification in surveying
- Sound understanding of standard field surveying principles in estate work and knowledge of the basic construction process for residential greenfield subdivisions
- Demonstrated ability to perform reliable and accurate GNSS observations, traversing and levelling based on government practice directives / industry best practice
- Demonstrated ability to follow internal checking and QA processes for uploads and downloads, pre-computations, field data transfer and closures of measurements etc
- Knowledge of various survey technologies including robotic total station, GNSS, digital level and terrestrial laser scanning etc
- Intermediate to advanced LisCAD and ACAD skills
- Construction Induction Card (VPAU349 - Work Safely in the Construction Industry)
