Project Officer - Darwin, NT

The Opportunity

The primary role is to assist the Project Manager in their role to manage Defence & Government Business Units contracts and provide high level of skill in regard to operations and administrative functions. The position reports directly to the Project Manager and includes liaising with customers, sub-contractors suppliers and Defence & Government staff nationally.

Primary project support is to the Australian Immigration and Border Protection Marine Department, with support provided nationally but concentrated in the NT. The position will be based in Darwin and may require deployment at short notice.

As the Defence & Government and Business Units contracts expand the role will provide key functions which allow for the continued development and expanding of business opportunities.

As the Project Officer, you will:

  • Timely provision and coordination of the department's operational requirements in accordance with existing projects / contracts.
  • Planning Operational Service delivery and logistics coordinators assignment for individual tasks received from Clients.
  • Managing the company Share Point data and follow up with Operations Manager for process completions after every task.
  • Compile and update the database for sub agents / Suppliers, Port Guides in ports where port services are provided by Defence & Government.
  • Assist Operations Manager in the planning & day-to-day coordination and management of operational activities in marine services.
  • Assist the Operations Manager in implementing operational plans as per contract requirements.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A level of understanding of commercial logistic functions including but not limited to transport services, port agency services, warehousing and distribution.
  • Exposure to maritime logistics and vessel planning is favourable.
  • Well-developed organisational and computer skills (e.g. MS Office).
  • Working knowledge of contemporary procurement practices, data entry, invoicing, accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Understanding of procurement concepts for business and customer.
  • Systems experience in SAP highly regarded
