Industrial Designer- Multiple Positions

About the RoleWe are seeking a qualified and experienced Industrial Designer to join our team on a full-time basis. The successful applicant will be responsible for researching, designing, and developing innovative and functional products that meet user needs, manufacturing feasibility, and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive research into user needs, market trends, and material properties to inform product design direction and guide innovation strategies.
  • Develop initial design concepts through sketches, 2D layouts, and 3D CAD models, exploring product form and function across frames, housings, accessories, and integrated elements.
  • Design products with a strong focus on usability, ergonomics, safety, and user experience, ensuring integration of mechanical and electrical systems where required.
  • Prepare detailed drawings, exploded views, and production-ready specifications to support prototyping, validation, and manufacturing handover.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams—including engineering, production, marketing, and supply chain—to balance design intent with performance, aesthetics, and cost targets.
  • Evaluate and select materials and finishes based on performance, visual appeal, sustainability, and manufacturing suitability.
  • Support prototype development and testing by coordinating sample builds, assessing performance, and refining designs through iterative feedback.
  • Participate in quality control and design optimization processes, including DFA, DFM, and lifecycle improvements, ensuring manufacturability and long-term product reliability.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of design decisions, revisions, and specifications throughout all project stages.
  • Stay current with industry trends, materials, digital tools, and manufacturing technologies, and assist in monitoring early production to maintain design integrity.

Skills and Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree (or higher qualification) in Industrial Design or a closely related field.
  • At least two years of relevant work experience in industrial or product design.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD and visualization software such as SolidWorks, Rhino, or Fusion 360.
  • Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and prototyping methods.
  • Excellent design communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.

Remuneration and Employment Details

  • Position Type: Full-time, ongoing.
  • Salary Range: $75,000 to $95,000 per annum plus superannuation, commensurate with skills and experience.
  • Hours of Work: 38 hours per week.
  • Location: Cheltenham VIC 3192
