) to source a Land Advisor (Capital) who will provide expert advice and support on Land Access, environmental compliance, cultural heritage, native title and approvals to assist in the delivery of Capital Projects.
Gladstone Area Water Board (GAWB) is a commercial Statutory Authority constituted under the Water Act 2000 whose purpose is to supply bulk water to major consumers in the Gladstone Region. GAWB manages a variety of assets ranging from major water storage through to pump stations, pipelines, storage tanks and water treatment plants. It takes measures to protect the quantity and quality of present and future water supplies and provides, operates and maintains recreational facilities and fish fingerling production facilities and stocking programs. The organisation is committed to the local and hands-on relationships with their customers and community to drive continued innovation. About the Role
Reporting to the Senior Land and Property Officer, your responsibilities will be to guide the Capital Project team through the complexities of land access, environmental compliance, cultural heritage, native title and approvals. You will be responsible for the preparation and negotiation of agreements, manage approvals processes and ensure compliance with relevant legislation while supporting strong relationships with stakeholders including government agencies, landholders, and consultants.
Your key accountabilities include:
- Provide strategic advice on land access, environmental compliance, cultural heritage, native title, and approvals
- Manage the preparation, submission and tracking of development applications as well as associated documentation
- Ensure the end-to-end negotiation, drafting and finalisation of land access and acquisition agreements
- Develop and implement stakeholder engagement strategies in relation to land access and acquisition agreements in collaboration with internal and external parties
- Analyse environmental, cultural heritage and native title data to identify risks and develop mitigation strategies
- Alongside the Capital Project team, ensure land, environmental, cultural heritage and native title requirements are integrated into project planning and delivery
- Interpret agreement/approval conditions and provide guidance to the Project team
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and regulatory requirements
- Provide support to the Senior Land and Property Officer and broader team as required
- Maintain accurate records, databases, and GIS data
Essential Experience / Capabilities:
- A tertiary qualification in
Environmental Science, Land Manageme
nt,
Natural Resource Managemen
t or similar - Extensive knowledge of legislation relating to tenure, environmental compliance, cultural heritage, and native title
- Proven experience in land access and tenure, environmental assessments and approvals as well as cultural heritage and native title
- Strong problem solving, risk analysis, and mitigation strategy skills
- Proven ability to build relationships across diverse stakeholders
Desirable
- Experience working in/with local or state government
- Project Management capabilities
