Communications & Marketing Coordinator (Volunteer)
Partners in Aid are seeking a hands-on volunteer Communications & Marketing Coordinator to help keep supporters informed and engaged. You'll work with project leads and the Board to share clear, ethical stories about our work and help drive fundraising campaigns.
Partners in Aid is an Australian not-for-profit international development organisation supporting community-led projects delivered by local NGOs in Sri Lanka, India, Fiji and the Philippines. Operating since 1962, we focus on building local skills, improving access to services, and promoting sustainable, community-driven development. We align with ACFID and DFAT policies and are committed to inclusion and the safeguarding of adults and children. The organisation is volunteer run and has no paid staff.
This is also a practical way to get involved with our projects. Volunteers often work closely with our local partners, and there may be opportunities to visit project sites overseas to see the impact first-hand.
Strong volunteers who show commitment and capability may be considered for future Board vacancies.
Key Responsibilities
- Website: Keep project pages and news up to date, and ensure key policies and documents are current (Wordpress training can be provided)
- Newsletter: Produce a quarterly e-newsletter, including story sourcing with project leads, light editing, basic layout and image selection.
- Social media: Create regular posts across LinkedIn and Facebook (new avenues are welcome). Grow the audience, and monitor engagement in line with brand and safeguarding policies.
- Fundraising platforms: Create and maintain campaigns, coordinate copy, images and updates, and share impact reporting.
- Analytics and improvement: Track basic metrics (email opens/clicks, web traffic, social reach) and suggest practical improvements.
Ideal Profile
- Hands-on comms or marketing experience, ideally in a small NFP or social enterprise.
- Comfortable with a web CMS (WordPress), email tools such as Mailchimp.
- Strong writing and light editing skills, with an eye for clear, ethical storytelling and image consent/safeguarding.
- Collaborative and organised, able to work with a volunteer Board and overseas partners.
- Nice to have: Canva, Google Analytics, familiarity with the ACFID Code.
Time Commitment
- Team check-ins: about 1 to 2 hours per month by Zoom.
- Operational comms: typically 2 hours per week, a little more around newsletter cycles or campaigns.
Induction and Support
You'll receive an induction to our policies, safeguarding and tools, and will be supported by the Communications lead and relevant project leads. Where appropriate, volunteers may have opportunities to work closely with projects and, subject to need and approvals, to visit project locations.
Pathway to the Board
Volunteers who excel in the role and show ongoing commitment may be invited to apply for future Board vacancies.
How to Apply
Email with your resume and coverletter outlining how you can contribute. If you'd like to discuss the role, contact Silvia Hope via the same email.
