About the Role:
As a HSEQ Advisor you will play a key role in driving, promoting and role modelling a strong safety culture on-site and across the business. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with legislation, accreditation requirements and company policies while providing practical support to our project teams. This role will oversee and maintain the Health, Safety and Environment Management Systems to ensure a structured and proactive approach to managing health, safety and environmental processes across the organisation.
Day-to-day, this role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferable skills and experiences, including:
- Demonstrated experience working in a Health, Safety and Environment role with a strong background in managing HSE Management Systems and compliance
- Establish and maintain health, safety, and environment (HSE) policies, frameworks, procedures and other HSE resources to ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations
- Previous success in a similar role, preferably in the construction or environmental management/ professional services space.
- Develop and deliver HSE training programs tailored to different roles and risk levels and ensure alignment with mandatory requirements
- In-depth knowledge of Australian HSE regulations and standards, such as those set by Safe Work Australia and aligned with State based agencies
- Ability to design, deliver and implement a learning solution for a documented business need
- A commitment to continuous improvement in HSE practices and the ability to adapt to evolving business needs
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to consult, influence, negotiate and present, as needed with employees, stakeholders and senior leaders
- Proven ability to manage, plan and organise and prioritise own workload to achieve set objectives within specified timeframes
- Tertiary qualifications in HSE or a related discipline will be highly regarded
- Ensure adherence to HSE regulations and standards by conducting assurance activities to verify compliance of the HSE Management Systems and training obligations
Identify and develop initiatives in alignment with the core capabilities as identified by the Executive and Board as well as with the HSE and People and Culture strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain WHS and Environmental systems in line with legislation and ISO standards
- Conduct site safety inspections, risk assessments, and audits
- Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions
- Provide coaching, training, and toolbox talks to site teams
- Ensure SWMS, WHS Management Plans, and other safety documentation are current and effective
Promote a culture of accountability, awareness, and continuous improvement
About You:
- Relevant WHS qualifications
- Proven experience as an HSE Advisor (preferably in the construction or broader environmental industry preferred)
- Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, regulations, and accreditation schemes
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence at all levels
Practical, solutions-focused approach with strong attention to detail
