About the team

The Fisheries Data and Licensing Services team is responsible for delivery of the day-to-day licensing, quota management and data entry services for Commonwealth and Torres Strait fisheries.

The team serves as the primary point of contact for fishing industry clients, providing advice on licensing and quota management for Commonwealth and Torres Strait fisheries. It is also responsible for processing licensing applications in accordance with legislative requirements, ensuring timely and accurate entry of paper-based records into AFMA's database systems, and conducting quality assurance on electronically submitted data.

The position

The position supports the team in delivering the following services:

  • Processing licensing applications and maintaining accurate registers.
  • Monitoring and reporting on quota management activities.
  • Conducting quality assurance checks on both paper-based and electronic records.
  • Entering paper records into AFMA's database systems with precision and timeliness.
  • Providing high-quality, timely service to clients, requiring a high level of accuracy, discretion, and probity.
  • Assisting in the development and maintenance of standard operating procedures.
  • Performing general administrative duties to support team operations.
  • Contributing to a positive workplace culture.
