About Us
At Family Spirit, we believe that every child deserves a safe, loving place to call home. As a leading NSW foster care agency, we mobilise caring families and dedicated professionals to provide hope, stability and opportunity to vulnerable children and young people across Sydney and regional areas.
We also walk alongside young people moving into independence, helping them find their footing, dignity and possibility in life beyond care
Working at Family Spirit is more than a job, it is a vocation. You will:
- Make a meaningful difference in the life of a child or young person.
- Be supported by a passionate, experienced and committed team.
- Work within a values-driven Catholic agency with strong partnerships in the community.
- Grow and develop professionally in the fields of child wellbeing, care and therapeutic service delivery.
About the Role
The Therapeutic Case Manager will have demonstrated experience in out-of-home care, with a deep understanding of trauma and relational healing, and a strong commitment to Catholic values. This role is suited to someone who sees their work as a vocation, who leads by example, and who is motivated to support children with complex needs while mentoring colleagues through reflective, ethical practice.
As a Therapeutic Case Manager, you will hold a caseload of children and young people in statutory care, many of whom have experienced trauma and disrupted attachments. You will lead trauma-informed case planning, placement stability strategies, and permanency pathways with children, carers, families, clinicians, and educators.
You will also contribute to the leadership of the PSP team by modelling ethical, relational, and faith-aligned practice, and by supporting less experienced case managers to grow in their confidence and clarity.
Essential Criteria
- Degree in Social Science, Teaching, Nursing, Social Work or a related field, Aboriginality is accepted as an appropriate qualification.
- Experience in OOHC, therapeutic care, or permanency-focused case management
- Strong understanding of developmental trauma, attachment theory, and therapeutic models
- Proven ability to work with high-complexity matters in a relational, child-focused way
- Demonstrated capacity to build trust and walk alongside children, carers, and families
- Excellent documentation, advocacy, and interagency coordination skills
- Demonstrated commitment to Catholic values and the ability to integrate these into practice
- Current NSW Working with Children Check, National Police Check, and full Australian working rights
Desirable Criteria
- Postgraduate training in trauma, therapeutic practice, counselling, theology or family systems
- Experience in mentoring, reflective supervision, or informal practice leadership
- Knowledge of ARC, CALM, Circle of Security, or similar relational frameworks
- Cultural humility and experience supporting Aboriginal children, carers, and communities
- Experience in faith-based or values-driven organisations, or a strong personal sense of vocation
Why Join Family Spirit?

- Work alongside experienced leaders and receive support from clinical, cultural, and safeguarding experts
