Litter Prevention Officer
Hours: Monday to Friday | 8:15 AM - 4:30 PM

Are you passionate about keeping our environment clean, safe, and compliant? We're currently recruiting for a motivated and professional Litter Prevention Officer to join a proactive Council team in ensuring building sites and public spaces meet environmental and local law standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Investigate litter, amenity, and compliance issues in relation to Local Laws and the Environment Protection Act.
Educate the community, builders, and developers on litter prevention and building site compliance.
Conduct site inspections, patrols, audits, and enforce regulations through notices and infringements.
Manage public complaints and ensure timely follow-up and feedback.
Prepare detailed reports, evidence briefs, and represent Council in legal proceedings where required.
Participate in after-hours and on-call rostered services as needed.
What You'll Bring:
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to manage difficult conversations professionally.
Sound knowledge and application of key legislation including:
Local Government Act
Environment Protection Act
Road Safety Act
Council Local Laws
Demonstrated investigative experience across environmental protection, building sites, and local law enforcement.
Strong Microsoft Office and mobile tech competency for report writing, field documentation and system updates.
High level of time management and the ability to prioritise tasks independently.
Proven ability to handle community interactions with empathy and professionalism.
Essential Qualifications & Requirements:
Certificate IV in Statutory Compliance (Government), Civil Investigations, or a related field.
Valid Victorian Driver's Licence.
Current Working with Children Check.
Experience working in a regulatory or law enforcement environment (Council or Government preferred).
Ability to interpret legislation and apply enforcement procedures in line with Council policies.
