The Customer Engagement Unit has an exciting temporary opportunity available for an experienced Operations Manager, within the OneSchool Business Support team, Education Systems Management.
The OneSchool Business Support team is a very large second-tier support team that provides application support for a range of enterprise applications used by Queensland state schools.
The Operations Manager assists the Manager of the OneSchool Business Support to lead and manage departmental IT services and support operations for the OneSchool application, its related applications, including QParents, and future enterprise applications.

About the Role
Based at AM60 in Brisbane CBD, with the opportunity to work flexibly, the Operations Manager reports to the Manager, Customer Engagement, Information and Technologies Branch, Digital Innovation Division.
In this role, you will lead a dynamic team to deliver high-quality IT services and support for key departmental applications. Your work will directly contribute to improving the customer experience and ensuring the efficient operation of critical systems.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Managing human, physical, and financial resources to maximise team efficiency, effectiveness, and performance in line with policy and procedural requirements.
- Planning, directing, scheduling, monitoring, and reporting on team deliverables to meet deadlines and maintain a responsive, high-quality client service.
- Implementing and documenting team processes, ensuring effective governance, reporting, and communication frameworks are in place to achieve business outcomes within agreed timeframes.
- Managing data collection and collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve the customer experience, including resolving problems and complaints.
- Leading, motivating, and supporting a productive and collaborative workgroup in a time-sensitive and demanding environment.
- Ensuring compliance with departmental operational strategies, service agreements, performance targets, and the delivery of consistent, high-quality services to stakeholders.
- Preparing and reviewing materials, correspondence, reports, and other documentation for senior departmental officers, boards, committees, government agencies, and stakeholders.
The Operations Manager will also represent the Customer Engagement Unit at internal and external forums.
About You
We are looking for a candidate with the following qualities:
- Knowledge of, or experience with, one or more of the services or systems listed above.
- Demonstrated ability to embrace change and respond flexibly to shifting expectations and requirements.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages to resonate with diverse stakeholders.
- Previous experience in a large, complex operating environment.
- Understanding of, or experience in, an education context.
- Proven success in an operations management role.
- Strong delegation skills while maintaining organisational oversight of team operations and customer service.
- Proficiency in conflict management and negotiation processes.
- Experience with business productivity software and a willingness to learn new applications.
