Job Description

The Bus Air Conditioning Technician is responsible for the diagnosis, repair, servicing and overhaul of HVAC systems fitted to Bus and Coach fleets. This role helps keep critical transport assets reliable and on the road — supporting the people who keep Australia moving. You'll deliver high-quality, safe, and efficient work that reflects Cooler's reputation for craftsmanship, reliability and service first.

The Role

You'll work on a variety of OEM systems across diesel, EV and hybrid bus platforms. You'll be responsible for keeping large fleet vehicles operational, compliant and efficient — both in workshop and on customer sites when required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose faults, leaks, electrical issues and performance problems in bus HVAC systems
  • Carry out servicing, compressor changes, evaporator/condenser repairs & component replacement
  • Recover, evacuate, recharge and performance-test systems
  • Electrical troubleshooting of AC circuits, relays, pressures, TX valves and controls
  • Complete clear job notes, parts usage and photos via digital job cards
  • Work safely to industry & regulatory standards and uphold Cooler's high workmanship standards

Skills & Experience We're Looking For

  • Trade qualified Refrigeration Mechanic / Automotive Air Conditioning / HVAC Tech
  • Experience on bus, coach, heavy-vehicle, or transport-refrigeration AC systems
  • ARCtick licence (required)
  • Strong diagnostics and electrical troubleshooting capability
  • Commitment to safety, reliability, and quality workmanship
  • Customer-fronting communication and professional presentation
  • Truck licence advantageous (not mandatory)
