About the role:

The Sustaining Capital Projects team is currently seeking a Specialist Cost Control to join them on a Monday-Friday Roster based at Perth. Reporting to the Superintendent Project Services, you will be responsible for coordinating the projects from a cost and schedule perspective as it progresses.  This role will be responsible for ensuring accuracy in reporting of cost and schedule variances that will allow the Superintendent and Manager Sustaining Capital to make decisions around cost corrections and changes that will facilitate project completion within the allocated budget and time available.

The position will see responsibilities in every stage of a project from feasibility through to the execution phase.

Duties:

• Ensure that there is a robust understanding of the Project scope, to assist with scoping requirements and forecasting requirements.
• Prepare all the reference baseline documents in accordance with project control guidelines and ensure that the projects cost control and forecasting requirements are properly and clearly communicated.
• Verify contract expenditure budgets are accurate and current.
• Monitor and audit project cost systems and reporting methodology and ensure this is consistent with the project framework procedures and guidelines
• Review and analyse project budget comparing against forecasts
• Reconcile expenditure against budget
• Forecast cost to complete and highlight areas of risk to mitigate cost overruns
• Ensure accuracy between Cost Management System and advise management of any significant variances
• Monitor foreign exchange/ currency allocations for the project to ensure there are no issues with cash flow
• Manage and forecast owner's costs
• Review and sign off progress claims

Skills and Experience:

• Bachelor of Engineering, Commercial / Finance or equivalent
• Extensive experience in a similar position managing project costs within an Iron ore or construction industry
• Advaced level in Cost management reporting tools, its database management and administration (SAP/ Prism / CMS / Ecosys etc)
• High level of computer skill with Advance Microsoft Excel, Word and MS Office package
