About this Role:
We are seeking to appoint a Director of Early Learning to lead and enrich our Early Learning Centre, located at 63 Clowes Street, South Yarra. This full-time position will commence in Term 1, 2026.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership for the Early Learning Centre, ensuring alignment with the School's mission, vision, and educational philosophy.
- Lead the day-to-day operations of the ELC, including staffing, compliance, policy management and curriculum delivery.
- Ensure child safety policies and practices are embedded in all aspects of the Centre's operations.
- Lead, mentor, and support ELC educators to foster collaboration, continuous improvement, and professional growth.
- Partner with families and the school community to build strong relationships that enhance each child's learning journey.
- Promote the philosophy and values of Melbourne Girls Grammar through community engagement and events.
About You:
- Hold an approved Early Childhood bachelor's degree Teaching Qualification and current VIT registration.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in an Early Learning.
- Deep understanding of the VEYLDF and Reggio Emilia–inspired practice.
- Proven ability to lead teams, manage compliance, and ensure best-practice education and care.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with staff, children, and families.
- Highly organised, proactive, and committed to upholding child safety and wellbeing.

Key Selection Criteria
Applicants are asked to address the following key selection criteria in their application:
Demonstrated ability to provide strategic and operational leadership in an early childhood setting, including leading teams to deliver high-quality programs aligned with VEYLDF and relevant regulatory frameworks.
Proven capacity to lead curriculum and pedagogy using evidence-based approaches.
Demonstrated ability to build and sustain strong relationships with children, families, staff, and the wider community.
Comprehensive knowledge of early childhood legislation, regulatory frameworks (including ACECQA and NQF) and the Child Safety Standards.
Proficiency in digital and administrative systems (e.g., KIMS, Arrivals, Synergetic, School Box).
