We are seeking a passionate and organised Centre Cook to join our friendly team at Shepherd Early Learning Centre. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys cooking healthy, balanced meals and creating a warm and nurturing food experience for children.

About the Role

As the Centre Cook, you will be responsible for planning, preparing, and serving nutritious meals that meet the dietary needs of children aged 0–5 years. You will work closely with the Centre Director and educators to ensure mealtimes are safe, enjoyable, and aligned with our centre's philosophy and menu guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea for children each day.
  • Ensure meals meet nutritional requirements and cater to allergies, intolerances, and cultural preferences.
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene and food safety in line with regulations.
  • Manage stock levels, order supplies, and minimise food waste.
  • Collaborate with educators and families to ensure individual dietary needs are met.
  • Keep kitchen and equipment clean, organised, and compliant with food safety guidelines.

About You

  • Previous experience in a childcare, school, or commercial kitchen preferred.
  • Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
  • Strong understanding of nutrition for young children.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Friendly, reliable, and able to work independently.
  • Passionate about creating healthy meals that children enjoy.
