The Ophthalmology team is a specialised service within Specialist Outpatients that provide general ophthalmology services including all those duties which are generally considered within the scope of general ophthalmology.
About the role:- Provide clinical practice and operational supervision to work experience students, or those involved in observational clinical placements. As level of experience increases, provide clinical education for students and less experienced staff with support of senior clinical staff.
- Develop professional competence and acquire the theoretical knowledge and skills necessary to perform Orthoptic Services to accepted standards of professional conduct and the application of evidence based practice including, but not limited to, testing visual acuity and intraocular pressure, biometry (IOLmaster and A scan), refraction (objective and subjective), scanning and image capture, computerised visual field testing, amblyopia and squint assessments, Patient screening for diabetic retinopathy and drug toxicity.
- Undertake referral management in support of Ophthalmologist.
- Deliver as part of a multidisciplinary team, sound independent evidenced based Orthoptic services across single or multiple modalities within the Ophthalmology Team.
- The successful applicant must hold a tertiary degree qualification (or equivalent diploma prior to 1990) in Orthoptics and registration with the Australian Orthoptic Board.
Total remuneration value of up to $132,567 is comprised of:
- An hourly rate between $ $58.59 p.h.
- 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
- 17.5% leave loading
