Job description

A busy and dynamic research facility based in the Eastern suburbs is looking for a graduate to do work involving, but not limited to, laboratory research duties, laboratory animal care, facility maintenance and record keeping.

Candidates must hold a Biology or Biomedical degree.

Skills required:

* Australian work authorisation is required

* Enthusiasm, meticulousness and a high level of initiative

* Good organisational skills

* Ability to work well in a small team and independently with minimal supervision

* Proficient animal handling and basic procedures such as blood collection, anaesthesia, tissue collection and post mortems

* Minimum 1+ years practical animal handling experience is required

* Willingness to develop new skills and learn new procedures

* Genuine commitment to the ethical care and welfare of all animals

* Familiar with the Australian code of practice for the care and use of animals for scientific purposes

* Good understanding of the Australian code of practice for animal care is essential

* Laboratory experience especially PCR and histology

* Minimum 2+ years practical laboratory experience is required

This is a full-time position but hours are flexible
