About the role

The
Senior Project Manager
is responsible for coordinating assigned projects in alignment with Council's established frameworks, systems, and processes. This role adopts a service-oriented approach throughout all phases of the project delivery cycle to ensure successful delivery within the agreed scope, timeframes, and budget. The position is accountable for all aspects of project outcomes—from initiation and planning through to execution, completion, and the seamless handover to the asset owner. This role will manage and coordinate the interface between the City of Canada Bay Council and Sydney Metro West during the construction and delivery phases.

Key Accountabilities:

Within the area of responsibility, this role will:

  • Act as the single point of contact at Council for Sydney Metro West.
  • Lead strategic planning and development of complex infrastructure programs, including Sydney Metro West and Council's Capital Works.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships and issue resolution between Council and Sydney Metro.
  • Coordinate assessment of designs and plans submitted by Sydney Metro or its contractors.
  • Coordinate handover of Sydney Metro works to Council.
  • Manage meetings, negotiations, and agreements related to construction leases/licences.
  • Liaise between Council's Communications Team and Sydney Metro's stakeholder liaison team.
  • Undertake other duties as agreed between Council and Sydney Metro West.

About the person

The successful candidate will possess a blend of project management expertise, leadership skills, and a passion for driving positive change. Your ability to communicate effectively, negotiate skillfully, and resolve conflicts will be essential in this role.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor's degree, Engineering, Project or Construction Management, Business, or in a public administration related field.
  • Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM) certification or equivalent preferred
  • Proven experience managing construction or engineering projects in the public sector
  • Solid knowledge of local government operations, regulations, and decision-making.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and software such as MS Project, Power BI and Adobe Pro
  • Current Class "C" Drivers Licence
  • Workcover accredited Construction Induction (White) Card

$125,147 to $143,920 plus superannuation.
