The Role
This Assistant Accountant position plays a key role within the Asset Commercial Team, supporting financial operations across revenue, cost allocation, month-end processes and reporting. Working closely with senior finance leaders, you'll contribute to accurate financial outcomes, meaningful analysis and improvements to systems and processes.
Responsibilities
- Assist with end-of-month reporting and ensure accuracy of overhead GL accounts
- Process motor vehicle revenue, cost allocations and monthly MV billing
- Manage yard revenue and cost allocations
- Prepare standing journals including accruals and prepayments
- Perform monthly inventory management and journals
- Prepare intercompany invoices in line with internal timetables
- Complete Fuel Tax Credit allocation and insurance aggregate reconciliations
- Maintain assigned balance sheet reconciliations
- Prepare monthly revenue, cost and damage reports
- Analyse vehicle revenue/cost variances and prepare commentary
- Maintain asset register (additions & disposals)
- Assist with ad hoc reporting and administrative support as needed
The Candidate
- 3+ years' experience in finance or accounting support roles
- Ideally coming from a big four or business services environment
- Strong Excel skills with exposure to accounting systems (Jobpac desirable)
- Currently studying or planning to study CPA/CA
- High attention to detail with strong time-management capability
- Confident communicator with the ability to build relationships across teams
- Proactive, accountable and comfortable working to deadlines
