About Create NSW
Create NSW supports the people, places, communities, and creative work that shape the cultural life of NSW. Through investment, programs and partnerships, we help make creativity visible, valued and part of everyday life. Our work is guided by the NSW Government's Creative Communities policy and a commitment to a vibrant, inclusive and future-focused sector.
About the role
The Senior Space Activation Lead plays a key part in helping Create NSW bring creative spaces to life. The role sits within the Creative Spaces team, which manages and activates arts, cultural, and creative industry spaces across NSW to enable vibrant and inclusive creative infrastructure.
You'll develop and deliver strategic projects and initiatives that identify, optimise and activate spaces for arts, cultural and creative use. Working across NSW, you'll help ensure that the supply of creative space is increased and that spaces are used effectively and sustainably, meeting community needs and reflecting Create NSW's policy objectives including Creative Communities and relevant sub-sector plans.
You'll develop activation projects, processes and digital tools that support cost-effective, safe and well-managed creative use of NSW Government sites including the Create NSW property portfolio. The role involves partnership development, managing stakeholder relationships, and monitoring outcomes to support continuous improvement. As the team also manages short-term hires, you'll spend time on site as needed to oversee activities and ensure a positive experience for hirers and visitors.

About You
You bring experience in designing and delivering place activation initiatives, ideally within the arts, culture or creative industries. You understand how to balance the needs of communities, stakeholders and policy priorities, and you're confident managing several projects at once, even when timeframes are tight. Your knowledge of place management, placemaking, adaptive reuse and how creative spaces operates helps you shape spaces that are fit-for-purpose, sector-focused and vibrant.
You're a practical project manager with a strategic outlook, able to adjust your approach as policies, the sector and stakeholder expectations evolve. Clear communication comes naturally to you, and you enjoy working with others - whether managing small project teams, collaborating across internal groups, or managing external partners with differing views. Above all, you're comfortable bringing people together to achieve outcomes that support both the creative sector and broader community benefit.
