3-year Promotional Appointment full time permanent teaching position - Commence Term 1, 2026.
We are seeking a passionate and accomplished educator to join our College as an Assistant Year Coordinator, commencing Term 1, 2026. This is a tremendous opportunity to contribute to the holistic development of our students as a member of our middle leadership team.
Reporting to either the Director of Middle School (Years 5–8) or Director of Senior School (Years 9–12), the successful candidate will be a highly experienced educator with a deep understanding of Religious Education and a commitment to student wellbeing and formation.
This is a 1-point paid position with time release of 0.1 FTE and is offered as a 3-year Promotional Appointment , held in addition to a permanent teaching position.
The role of Assistant Year Coordinator plays a pivotal role in supporting the Year Coordinator in academic care, management of student behaviour and wellbeing of students. The main focus of this role is to assist the Year Coordinator to support Student Wellbeing and the behaviour management process, including escalation of matters when needed as well as organising and coordinating activities or events specific to the allocated cohort.
In undertaking this middle leadership position, it is expected that the successful applicant will:
- Promote the four Touchstones of the Charter for Catholic Schools in the Edmund Rice tradition.
- Demonstrate excellence as a classroom teacher and encourage a spirit of excellence, responsibility, cooperation and assist with the recording, management, and follow-up in TASS regarding student wellbeing within the cohort.
- Be aware of and have a clear understanding of child safeguarding response and reporting obligations.
Work with College structures to support the Year Coordinator to address the needs of all students within the year group. - Assist in the creation of a safe environment where students are not judged based on race, or academic ability.
- Assist with the communication required with parents / teachers / students' areas of concern as soon as they arise.
To be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate you satisfy the following selection criteria:
Essential Criteria
- Demonstrated understanding of appropriate behaviours and professional boundaries that reflect child safeguarding values in practice.
- Qualified Secondary Teacher (note subject/s you are qualified to teach) with NESA Accreditation and approval to teach in NSW.
- Understanding of current wellbeing frameworks and research-based approaches to wellbeing in schools.
- Broad understanding of contemporary educational issues with a specific focus on the link between curriculum (learning) and student wellbeing.
- A strong interest in, and capacity to, develop connectedness and positive relationships with students in relation to their wellbeing and learning.
- Excellent rapport building, networking and relationship management experience.
- Well organised, self-motivated, ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
- Ability to provide support to the Year Coordinator in the proactive, high-quality leadership and management of a team and capacity to work harmoniously with teams, whether in supervisory, collegial or advisory contexts.
- Demonstrated experience in conflict resolution.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with a demonstrated capacity to communicate clearly with students, colleagues and the wider community regarding educational and wellbeing issues.
Desirable Criteria
- Postgraduate qualifications (in leadership, education, wellbeing, religious education or theology).
- Qualified and willing to teach Religious Education (Stage 4 and Stage 5), Studies of Religion (Stage 6) and/or Physics (Stage 6).

A working understanding of, and a commitment to the Catholic ethos of a school in the Edmund Rice tradition, a valid Working with Children clearance and participation in the co-curricular program, are essential conditions of employment.
Evidence of a valid WWCC clearance will be required prior to employment.
