Position Overview:

We're seeking a skilled Workshop Supervisor who is experienced working on Road Transport fleet, including Prime Movers, Floats, Platforms & Side-Tippers to Manage the day-to-day running of workshop personnel – including Mechanics, auto electricians, boilermakers, and trades assistants.

What you'll be doing

  • Manage the day-to-day running of workshop personnel – including mechanics, auto electricians, boilermakers, and trades assistants.
  • Schedule and prioritise repairs and maintenance tasks for our road going fleet.
  • Liaise with the Transport Manager for ordering of parts and services.
  • Conduct inspections and quality checks on completed work.
  • Mentor and motivate workshop staff to maximise productivity and performance.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and best practices to optimise workshop productivity and efficiency
  • Coordinate with the Transport team to ensure timely completion of service and repairs.
  • Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of all workshop equipment and tools in line with legislative requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to the workshop team, ensuring high-quality workmanship.

What we're looking for

  • Experience (2+ years) in a similar role (supervisor or leading hand) within the Transport and Heavy Haulage industries.
  • Strong technical knowledge with the ability to provide hands-on guidance to the workshop team.
  • Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and time management skills.
  • Proven track record of leading and motivating a team to achieve operational excellence.
  • Familiarity with relevant industry regulations, safety standards, and best practices.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Exposure to a Fleet Maintenance software is highly desirable.

Must haves:

  • Australian Recognised Heavy Trade Qualification
  • Valid Australian Driver's License - Minimum HR class
  • Proven experience in workshop roles, demonstrating expertise in your field
  • Dedication to maintaining high safety standards within the workshop
  • Team-oriented mindset and effective communication skills
  • Unrestricted Australian Working Rights
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment medical

Desirable but not essential:

  • High Risk Work License - LF, WP, DG, RB, CN
