Join a busy Hotel in Regional township of Bathurst - NSW

The George Hotel at Bathurst is a busy gastro pub located in a thriving township of Bathurst (2.5 hours from Sydney CBD). We are currently looking for a full-time senior cook/chef to join our culinary team.

To be successful, you must have minimum 2-3 years of recent hands-on experience across all sections of a busy kitchen including pan, grill, fryer, cold larder (pastry/dessert experience is also welcomed).

Key requirements of the Role:-

  • Minimum 2-3 years of industry experience in a similar fast-pace environment
  • Must be based/living in Australia and available to come for a trial
  • Have relevant qualifications and work rights in Australia (preferably with skills assessment as cook/chef). Sponsorship opportunities ONLY for the right candidates with 4-5 years of relevant experience, demonstrated skills, focus and commitment.
  • Must be flexible and available to work around the requirement of the business - weekends/school/public holidays.
  • Able to multi-task and rotate in various sections of the kitchen and quickly follow recipes, presentation standards and meet dietary requirements
  • Able to train and supervise other cooks/apprentices through demonstrated skills and experience
  • Familiar with all Standard Operating procedures of the kitchen including OHS standards ie. meet hygiene and safety regulations
  • Bring "can-do" positive attitude to the kitchen, have good communication skills and be a great team player
  • Preferably a stable employment record with a desire to learn and succeed in a culinary/hospitality career
  • Salary commensurate with skills and experience.

Main Duties:

-Prepare, cook and serve food according to menu guidelines and recipes developed by the Head Chef. Have solid cooking techniques and knife skills to be able to quickly adapt in busy kitchen.

-Understand dietary requirements and prepare food to meet specific dietary needs

-Assist with menu planning and proactively contribute to menu changes or daily/weekly specials

-Able to supervise, train and direct activities of other junior cooks, kitchen attendants and apprentices while on duty

-Assist the Head Chef with monitoring stock/inventory levels, ordering/purchasing. Be aware of costs, effectively manage stock levels, stock rotation and minimise waste in the kitchen

-Assist with receipt and account of daily supplies and deliveries while on shift, including efficient handling and proper storage of all deliveries

-Comply with all food handling and food safety policies and procedures - be aware of OHS regulations
