Details:Protecting our most vulnerable children and young people is one of the most important jobs you can do.
The Children Youth and Families (CYF) Operations branch is responsible for ensuring the ACT's children, young people and their families are safe, supported and connected to their culture and identity. Their needs are met, and their voices heard.
The CYF Practitioner role is focused on delivering the best possible life outcomes for children and young people through responsive client service underpinned by best practice trauma informed case management.
The CYPP3 Practitioner within Intake and Assessment After Hours team is focussed on receiving, screening, and assessing needs to provide an appropriate CYF response. Practitioner will maintain knowledge of service delivery across CYF and liaise with operational areas to allocate an effective response to the statutory need, provide crisis support to address safety needs, or provide crisis and short-term intervention to divert children or young people from further CYF involvement.
Successful applicants will be required to work 13 hours over the weekend (6 ½ hours each day) the shift start times may vary.
On call requirements may be associated with role.
These roles attract several allowances including shift penalties.
Eligibility/Other Requirements:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Social Welfare, Social Science or related discipline. Please note: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who do not have these qualifications but who have appropriate and relevant Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural heritage and experience are eligible to apply.
- For Youth Justice positions, a relevant qualification in Criminology or Law may be considered.
- At least two years of practical experience working with children, youth and/or families in a social work/case management role, and/or experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and communities.
- This role may work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and young people, cultural awareness, and capacity to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people is required.
- Driver's license (C class) is essential.
- This position does require a Working with Vulnerable People Check. Prior to commencing this role, a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required. - Prior to commencement, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a pre-employment National Police Check.
As this role is likely to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and young people, cultural awareness, and capacity to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people is highly desirable.
Notes:This is a temporary position available immediately for a period of 12 months with the possibility of permanency.
A merit pool or merit list may be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection method: Selection may be based on application and referee reports only.
