Established in 1871, the Art
Gallery of New South Wales is located in Sydney's The Domain adjacent to the
Royal Botanic Garden and near the Central Business District, the Gallery
acknowledges the original custodians of this land – the Gadigal people.

The Art Gallery attracts around 2
million visitors annually and runs Australia's largest education program with
over 90,000 student and teacher visits per year.

With our expanded campus the Art Gallery has
a new state-of-the-art building located next to our existing and much-loved
building. Providing us with close to double the exhibition space, the expanded Art
Gallery enables us to share more art with more people and provide more family,
learning and educational programming for all our audiences.

About the Role

Ticketing
Hosts are a first point of contact with the public and are responsible for providing
outstanding visitor/guest service with best-practice ticketing outcomes. Ticketing Hosts facilitate the sales of
exhibition and program tickets, memberships, and various packages and support box
office requirements including answering ticketing and administrative enquiries
across multiple locations, platforms and technologies.

What Technical/Soft Skills you require

  • Previous visitor/customer service experience in the cultural or tourism sector.
  • Previous ticketing/box-office and customer service experience in the cultural or tourism sector
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to deal courteously with visitors.
  • Experience in working with audiences of a diverse range of ages and abilities.
  • Confidence with visitor engagement and the influence required to increase membership sales.
  • Current Working with Children Check
  • A high degree of accuracy in money handling, credit card processing and daily reconciliations.

  1. What are some of the ways that ticketing systems can improve the overall visitor experience? (maximum of 300 words).

You have received a call from a visitor who is having connectivity issues and is unable to complete a booking online, and they are not comfortable with providing credit card details over the phone. The program is almost sold-out with only a few tickets remaining. How would you approach the situation without this information? (maximum of 300 words).
