Model & Grounds Maintenance – Join the Magic at Cockington Green Gardens

Since 1979, Cockington Green Gardens has been captivating visitors from around the world with its miniature villages, beautiful gardens, and intricate model displays. Now, we have a rare opportunity for a creative and practical person to join our small, passionate team and help us keep the magic alive.

This is a full-time role (part-time considered) with hours from 8:00am – 4:30/5:00pm, including one weekend per month and some public holidays.

What you'll do:

Every day is different. You might be:

  • Restoring miniature buildings and figurines with precision and artistry
  • Repairing and maintaining model trains so they run like clockwork
  • Painting models, figurines, and features to keep them fresh and vibrant
  • Caring for our gardens and grounds so every visitor sees them at their best
  • Carrying out general park maintenance and cleaning
  • Welcoming visitors and engaging with school groups to make their visit memorable

What we're looking for:

  • Creative and artistic flair with an eye for fine detail
  • Experience in model construction, train repairs, or similar craft work
  • Practical skills in painting, repairs, gardening, and basic landscaping
  • Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • A friendly communicator who enjoys interacting with people of all ages
  • Self-motivation and initiative — able to work without constant supervision
  • Punctuality, reliability, and high personal presentation standards
  • Commitment to Work Health & Safety practices
  • Ability to hold a Working with Vulnerable People Card
