We are seeking a temporaryManager Capital & Asset Accounting to join our Corporate Finance Team within our Finance & Business Performance Division. This fixedterm opportunity will be for a period of up to 10 months.

The Opportunity
As the Manager Capital & Asset Accounting you will be responsible for leading and managing the Capital and Asset Accounting Team, which oversees the financial management of the Corporation's fixed assets and capital projects.
This role is specifically responsible for maintaining the Corporation's fixed asset registers, managing work-in-progress (WIP) reporting, and ensuring accurate and compliant capital accounting practices.
What you'll do:
- Lead and manage the preparation of high-quality monthly fixed asset and capital project reports, including performance analysis against budgets and monitoring of capital work-in-progress (WIP).
- Develop annual budget, forecasts and long-term financial projections for depreciation, amortisation, asset disposals and capital WIP.
- Lead and manage the Capital & Asset Accounting team by monitoring performance, providing mentoring, and supporting training and development to ensure optimal team and individual performance.
- Manage Hunter Water's accounting, tax and regulatory asset registers, including ensuring compliance with asset revaluation and impairment requirements.
- Assist in the preparation of regulatory and statutory financial reports and returns for Hunter Water.
Provide technical expertise, business support and advice on asset and capital accounting matters, including;
Maintaining accurate asset and capital transactions
Assessing project capitalisation requirements
Review and analysing capital projects
Supporting the capital portfolio and project controls environment
- Ensure full compliance with relevant asset accounting standards (AASB), regulatory requirements and NSW Treasury policies.
- Maintain and update the Corporation's Capitalisation Policy and Standard to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Continuous review of processes to identify improvements, drive efficiency gains, and contribute to the ongoing review and improvement of internal policies, processes, and procedures.
What you'll need to be successful:
Essential Criteria:
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Commerce or a related discipline
- CPA/CA designation or working towards
- Substantial experience in financial accounting in a corporate or professional environment
- Demonstrated understanding of Australian Accounting Standards, and other regulatory standards e.g. NSW Treasury Policies and Directions
- Demonstrated experience partnering with business areas to drive strategic and operational
priorities through the provision of advice, analysis and insights - Demonstrated ability to work efficiently to effectively manage challenges and changing priorities whilst still meeting team and corporate deadlines.
- Experiencetranslatingcomplextechnicalaccountingmatterstonon-financialliterate
stakeholders.
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience leading or supervising a small team
- Experience working in a State-Owned Corporation or other government agency
- Experience working in a capital portfolio or program management office environment
