Memorial Services Supervisor
Due for completion in January 2026, the Memorial Hall and Condolence Lounge at Gungahlin Cemetery will offer a state-of-the-art facility to the community and allow Canberra Memorial Parks to offer a full-service offering. The $6M facility will feature a 120-seat memorial hall to facilitate funeral and memorial services for all faiths, cultures, and beliefs, and a condolence lounge with two kitchens, to allow for professional or self-catered functions. The open-air atrium linking the two facilities will provide an abundance of natural light and a peaceful space to transition between services.
Canberra Memorial Parks is seeking an empathetic and compassionate individual to oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the new memorial hall and condolence lounge facility. Working under limited supervision, you will be directly responsible for the provision of exemplary stakeholder service and care. You will have thorough knowledge in the use of audio-visual and multimedia systems and the use of the Microsoft Office Suite. Highly developed stakeholder relationship skills are essential in supporting, and working with, multiple stakeholder groups, including members of the community, funeral directors, clergy and celebrants, faith and cultural groups, caterers, vendors and contractors, and inter-government service providers.
This position will have direct exposure to deceased persons, and highly emotive and distressing situations. While this position requires a high level of empathy and compassion, you will have access to a broad range of services and resources to support you in your role.
You will have direct supervision of the Memorial Services Attendant, who will assist you with the day-to-day operations of the facility. Together, you will be the face of Canberra Memorial Parks in delivering outstanding service to our stakeholders and community.
