We are seeking an experienced Head Chef to join our team at either Sandbar, Finn McCool's, and The Cavill Hotel in Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast. You must be enthusiastic, highly motivated, and able to work autonomously in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. The successful candidate will be offered a salary commensurate with experience plus the ability to earn substantial incentives.

The Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic, highly motivated and experienced Head Chef who possesses the ability to work autonomously to join our team at our busy and popular venue in Surfers Paradise.

As a fully qualified Head Chef, you will report into the Venue Manager and assume overall leadership and responsibility for the cost-effective management of the kitchen to maximise food profitability, whilst ensuring food safety standards and total guest satisfaction. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the kitchen team in a hands-on manner, ensuring consistent food quality
  • Maintaining food and wage costs in line with budgets
  • Designing, costing and implementing innovative menus
  • Ordering and Stock Control
  • Preparing meals
  • Maintaining current knowledge on food trends and competitors
  • Setting, implementing and reviewing service standards to exceed guests expectations
  • Total compliance for WHS, food safety, company and legislated policies
  • Employee recruitment, training and development
  • Maintaining safety & hygiene standards of the kitchen

About you

If you enjoy variety in your day and are passionate about food preparation and presentation as well as delivering quality dishes with flair - then this is a role for you To be successful in this position you will have:

  • Previous experience in a similar environment
  • Tertiary Qualifications eg. Cert 3 in Commercial Cookery or a Diploma in Hospitality
  • A hands on management style with proven leadership qualities
  • Demonstrated experience working within a similar position in a busy, high volume kitchen
  • Effective communication skills with hotel staff, management and suppliers
  • Computer literacy with strong administration skills
  • Flare, enthusiasm and passion to create quality dishes
