Key Outcomes and Accountabilities
**The aim of this role is to**:
Provide advice and practical support to internal customers and clients including the human resources / payroll teams, senior leaders, and managers to develop their knowledge of industrial relations legislation, awards, certified agreements, policies, practices, and procedures, including compliance requirements that meets organisational objective
Act as a key advisor for QBCC in the provision of considered and expert advice on public sector employment relations legislation and subordinate legislation including the Industrial Relations Act 2016 (QLD), the Public Sector Act 2022, the Code of Conduct and relevant Directives across the organisation.
Assist in the development of an employee relations and industrial strategy and look for continuous improvement,
In collaboration with the HR Team and Senior Leaders, develop and implement processes and an approach for a collaborative and constructive relationship with external stakeholders, including unions, to support QBCC delivering outcomes.
As a key industrial relations advisor for the QBCC manage the interface with the union (including with union officials and delegates), to facilitate a collaborative and problem-solving approach to employee and industrial relations.
Educate and coach the leaders in the organisation and the HR team to build skill, knowledge and capability and confidence in employee relations matters and take an educational approach to the implementation of Directives and policies to create a good practical understanding.
Prepare and present clear and succinct high-level discussion papers and briefs, including advice including outlining strategy, risks, options, and consequences (both written and oral) on complex and sensitive employment relations issues, such as contracts of employment, sometimes at short notice.
Assist in the resolution of any industrial disputes in a timely manner and undertake high-level negotiation as required.
Demonstrated experience in developing, maintaining and improving industrial and employee relations policies and practices which support the desired people outcomes of an organisation and address key industrial relations issues.
Ability to act as an industrial advocate and representative in industrial tribunals and other forums.
Demonstrated experience in delivering high-level industrial and employee relations advice and problem solving, including building capacity of internal customers and HR teams by providing coaching and guidance on matters of performance, employment law, employee relations and other related human resources issues.
Demonstrate high level communication skills, including presentations, negotiation and influencing skills in communicating with diverse audiences, including unions.
Proven experience working in a multi-disciplinary HR team delivering services and initiatives in a complex environment undergoing change.
A demonstrated ability to build and sustain productive and professional relationships with team members, internal/external stakeholders and unions to enable collaborative approaches to employment relations issues, including through challenging issues and constrained environments.
Proven experience in the assessment, case management and resolution of workplace and employee relations issues.
