**Position Profile**:
Bristol-Myers Squibb is now hiring a unique leadership opportunity for Head of Legal ANZ. This role is chiefly responsible for delivering regulatory and commercial legal advice to the Australia and New Zealand operation. The role involves providing strategic legal advice and support on employment law issues, including leading routine labor litigation. You will focus on assessing, managing and explaining legal risk, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, providing training and education on relevant legal matters, and responding to the legal needs of the organization.

**Responsibilities**:
**Advise Business Operations**
- Provide commercial and regulatory legal support to the day-to-day business operations, including commercial, R&D, medical, access, sales and marketing, and all supporting functions including finance, HR, regulatory, quality, IT, supply chain, and others, to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, as well internal client access to clear, concise and tailored legal advice to appropriately achieve business goals.
- Lead the routine employment litigation, liaising with and managing external counsel, as needed, including discussions on legal strategy and courses of action.
- Lead the management of local contracts, including the supervision of the drafting, review and approval process performed by other lawyers in the team. Support the Strategic Corporate Transactions (SCT) team for SCT-led contracts that require local advice.
- Manage legal risks in an effort to help prevent legal issues arising, as well as providing support when legal issues arise.
- Keep the local management informed of potential liability of ongoing litigation as well as potential contingency and new litigation.
- Act as the Legal representative on, and proactively participate in, certain Committees led by the country General Manager and other members of the leadership team as part of the affiliate governance model.
- Lead and develop, as applicable, in close collaboration with other Law Departments around the world and at headquarters, legal guidelines and trainings as part of preventive initiatives and to assist in the speedy resolution of legal matters.
- Proactively participate in Trade Associations Committees as the BMS legal representative and, as appropriate, co-lead of important initiatives of interest for the sector and relevant to the company’s business and the legal practice.
- Participate in initiatives focused on continuous monitoring of the external environment, including the developments of relevant laws and industry codes in order to assist in anticipating, assessing and advising on potential impact and opportunities. Work with Trade Associations to proactively advocate in relation to their content and approval, if needed.
- Proactively obtain and innovatively refine the information, including external trends and challenges, to share relevant information within the Law Department to provide strategic legal advice to the business.
- Lead new projects that may arise from time to time locally, regionally, or globally, including cross-functional projects.
- Support the defense and protection of IP rights. Enhance the value of our pipeline.
