Support Worker - Beerwah/Glass House Mountains

**We are looking for people who are passionate about making a genuine difference in the life of a young adult living with a disability.**

Multiple opportunities available in either a Permanent Part-Time OR Casual position.

Support workers are crucial in supporting and assisting others to live their best life, however that may look for them. Providing individuals with opportunities for choice, control and self-advocacy, takes skill, understanding and heart.

We are currently looking for new Support Workers to join our Beerwah/Glass House team. This team will support an 18-year-old man to live independently. He is an active individual and soccer enthusiast, who would like to work towards representing Australia at the Special Olympics. A typical day may include being out in nature: bushwalking, general walking, playing sport, or being supported to develop and maintain valued roles within his local community, while attending to daily living tasks. A gaming buff at heart who requires some great mentorship and authentic support to reach his potential.

Support Work can be a mixed bag of activity and some days will be physically exhausting but with a fantastic team of people in place, this is a well-supported, emotionally rewarding position.

Responsibilities shall include:

- Assisting an individual to set and achieve their own goals
- Assisting an individual to fulfill their daily living tasks as independently as possible
- Facilitate any community inclusion or participation (as required). This may include helping to build and maintain relationships or pursue any interests through accessing community activities, venues or services
- Build and maintain meaningful work relationships with your Mercy family, wider services and other networks to collaboratively work together in the best interest of the person we support

About You
- Previous experience in and knowledge of the disability, allied health, welfare or education fields.
- A passion for working with people with disabilities.
- Possess sound computer and literacy skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, with a willingness to work within a 24/7 rotating roster, including overnight/sleep-over and weekend shifts.
- Understanding and commitment to a person-centered model of practice.
- Current First Aid Certificate and CPR Certificate.
- Queensland Provisional Green or above Driver’s License
- Completed NDIS Worker Orientation Module
- Hold a current Blue and Yellow Exemption Card / NDIS Workers Screening, or have the ability to obtain prior to commencement
