Support Worker

**Support Worker** We are looking for people who are passionate about making a genuine difference in the life of a young adult living with a disability. The person we support lives 25 minutes from Caboolture/25 minutes from Caloundra, and we have a number of casual shifts available in his team across a 24/7 roster. As an active 18-year-old man, this person we support is looking for a team of "comrades" to help him live independently. His interests include online gaming, soccer, getting out and about in nature, bushwalking, playing sport, and being supported to develop and maintain valued roles within his local community, as well as attending to daily living tasks. He would like a team that not only supports him with the latter, but also to help guide him on what living as an independent man is like to ensure that he has an excellent framework of support to reach his potential. Responsibilities shall include: - Assisting him to set and achieve his own goals - Assisting him to fulfill his daily living tasks as independently as possible - Facilitate any community inclusion or participation (as required). This may include helping to build and maintain relationships or pursue any interests through accessing community activities, venues or services - Build and maintain meaningful work relationships with your Mercy family, wider services and other networks to collaboratively work together in the best interest of the person we support Why choose Mercy? About You - Previous experience in and knowledge of the disability, allied health, welfare or education fields. - A passion for working with people with disabilities. - Possess sound computer and literacy skills. - Ability to work flexible hours, with a willingness to work within a 24/7 rotating roster, including overnight/sleep-over and weekend shifts. - Understanding and commitment to a person-centered model of practice. - Current First Aid Certificate and CPR Certificate. - Queensland Provisional Green or above Driver’s License - Completed NDIS Worker Orientation Module - Hold a current Blue and Yellow Exemption Card / NDIS Workers Screening, or have the ability to obtain prior to commencement **About Us** Mercy Community is a Catholic not-for-profit, compassionately inspiring and supporting people to live hopeful, connected lives within inclusive communities.
