Deaf Connect has been asked to accept the transfer of Access Plus services and staff from 24 July. The WA Deaf Connect team have been through an extended period of change and Deaf Connect is keen to ensure they are supported with an accessible and experienced leader based in Perth.
Our goal is to ensure that our Western Australian staff are supported to deliver high quality services to the community within a new organization, structures and ways of working, as well as invest in developing local current and emerging leaders.
Are your skills aligned with the above and are you passionate about supporting people? We are seeking expressions of interest from experienced leaders with operational skills who are available to work at least 4 days a week between 9 - 5pm.
**About the Role**:
Working with Sarah Dempsey, Organizational Consultant and Brett Casey, CEO, you will be active in providing leadership and support to the Western Australian Deaf Connect Team.
You will be responsible for building strong relationships with WA based staff, community and stakeholders, and modelling Deaf Connect’s values.
You will be proactive in identifying local issues across the Western Australian business, especially the Perth office, including those relating to culture, communication, operations, facilities and change management. You will be responsible for supporting staff to resolve these and escalating these where appropriate.
Duties will include holding meetings with local stakeholders, managing local issues as needed, and being a key escalation point in Perth.
Our goal is to ensure that our Western Australian staff are supported to deliver high quality services to the community within a new organization, structures and ways of working, as well as invest in developing local current and emerging leaders.
You will also be involved in projects impacting the Western Australian Deaf Connect team including an upcoming office relocation and increased community connection and events.
This is a fantastic development opportunity for someone with a keen interest in operational management, culture and leadership.
**Role structure and support**:
Deaf Connect is flexible in how this role is structured and there may be opportunity, depending on the successful applicant’s skill set, to combine the role with other operational requirements and responsibilities.
Current WA based Deaf Connect staff are strongly encouraged to apply.
This role will be working alongside the organisational consultant and reporting directly to the CEO of Deaf Connect.
The role could be structured as full or part time.
**About You**:
**To succeed in this role, you’ll have**:
- Demonstrated team leadership and management skills, including ability to manage change and generate a culture of continuous improvement
- Understanding of Deaf Connect services, policies, and procedures.
- Highly developed engagement and communication skills, including negotiation and advocacy skills Strong organisational and time management skills
- Ability to work autonomously
- Positive and flexible attitude
- Auslan skills
- Knowledge of the Deaf community, language and culture
**It would also be desirable if you had the following**:
- Experience in delivery of services or educational materials
- Experience or knowledge of WA community and stakeholders
You should also let us know if you have these other great skills:
- Qualifications in Auslan and interpreting or relevant experience
