Personal Lines Claims Examiner

**Your Role**:
The primary purpose of this role is to produce a high quality work product on Personal Lines Claims through prompt and professional contact with customers and brokers and through the effective investigation, reserving and adjustment of claims incurred by insureds.

This is a 12 month fixed term contract.

**Your Responsibilities**:

- Manage a portfolio of claims for Personal Lines claims as allocated and analyze first report to determine nature of loss, coverage provided and scope of damage.
- Assess claims in accordance with Chubb’s service level and quality requirements and the General Insurance Code of Practice. This includes determining coverage, reserving within timeframes, making payments, responding to customer queries, providing updates, and requesting additional information as needed to manage a claim.
- Communication by telephone and written correspondence to brokers, claimants and others as required.
- Promptly and properly document all developments on claim workstation file.
- Take part in Claim Department and companywide training as required.
- Seek technical assistance in handling claims exceeding delegated authority.
- Respond to enquiries and escalations of matters from underwriters, brokers and customers, and work with underwriters, the Compliance Department, and other departments of the company as needed.
- Exercise good judgement in reaching final disposition of claim by evaluating nature of loss, liability, damage, coverage provided and applicable limits.
- Effectively negotiate compromise settlements where appropriate.
- Participate in claims meetings with internal and external stakeholders as required.
- Effectively control the use, work product and expense of outside vendors.
- Tertiary qualified.
- Investigation techniques.

- Damage and/or loss evaluation.
- Negotiation skills.
- Litigation procedures.

- Chubb claim philosophy.
