**Our Business**: **Remuneration**:$74,000 gross per year before superannuation **JOB TITLE**: Disability Support Officer (under ANZSCO 411712 Disabilities Services Officer) **JOB DESCRIPTION**: The Disability Support Officer is responsible for implementing training and support services aimed at maximizing the living, employment, social and recreational skills of people with a disability. Community inclusion, independence, decision making, and personal choice should be promoted through these supports, with a focus on individual needs. **RISK ASSESSED ROLE** Yes **TYPE**: Permanent, Full-Time **REPORT TO**: Director; Relationships Manager; Service Coordinator **LOCATION**: 2/77 Shore Street W, Cleveland QLD 4163 and Greater Brisbane Area where most clients live **MAIN DUTIES** Providing direct care and support to clients in line with their personalised care plans & goals, including: - Personal tasks / domestic assistance within the home, inclusive but not limited to daily tasks and personal care - Personal or social support to assist in developing increased social skills and capacity - Respite care to assist in promoting wellbeing and longevity of informal supports - Transporting clients to facilitate engagement and capacity building activities. In addition to the above, the following indirect support duties for clients are routinely required as part of the role: - Assessing clients' needs in conjunction with formal support team - Participation in planning, developing and implementing educational, training and support programs for clients and their informal support networks - Liaising and facilitating access to mainstream and community-based supports for clients, as directed by the broader support team - Routine progress reporting and monitoring - Scheduled and ad hoc reporting for the purposes of funding review and changes to support requirements - Ad hoc participation in auditing activities to ensure compliance and quality standards are met - Assisting clients in crisis and with problem solving of core social, emotional and financial issues, including seeking engagement with appropriate specialists as required - Routine and ad hoc reporting and auditing, in discussion with management **QUALIFICATIONS/ REQUIREMENTS**: - Diploma of Social Science / Disability Services or related fields - Working With Children (WWC) Clearance (Blue Card) - NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (Yellow Card) - First Aid Certificate - CPR Certificate - NDIS Training Module Completion Certificate/s - Driver’s License - Reliable and comprehensively insured vehicle - Smart phone **EXPERIENCE**: - Preferably >2 years of experience in a similar role within the disability sector. - Experience supporting People with Disability. - Demonstrated Continuing Professional Development. - Knowledge of continuous quality improvement principles. **SKILLS**: - Excellent verbal and written communication skills. - Ability to build rapport and trust with clients. - Strong time management and ability to prioritize. - Ability to use MS Office suite and other software for record keeping. - Excellent problem solving and conflict management skills. - Ability to work as part of a team and maintain good working relationships. **Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent Work Location: In person Application Deadline: 26/10/2024
