The First Peoples - State Relations Group is seeking talented and passionate individuals committed to progressing the Victorian Government's nation leading work with First Peoples.
This is a unique opportunity to work in new and innovative ways that recognise First Peoples as the self-determining drivers of Aboriginal affairs in Victoria. This role will contribute to the ground-breaking work of the Group in the areas of truth, treaty, self-determination and cultural rights.
As the Heritage Registry Policy and Project Coordinator, you will support the administration of the Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006 by maintaining the Victorian Aboriginal Heritage Register (VAHR).
You will play a lead role in engaging and building partnerships across communities, government and industry to continuously improve the standards by which Aboriginal cultural heritage places are recorded and registered on the VAHR.
About you
- experience in the detailed recording and registration of Aboriginal cultural heritage, including knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal cultural heritage management issues
- strong project management, planning and organisational skills
- excellent analytical, conceptual, and problem solving skills
- well developed written and verbal communication skills, with extensive experience in preparing complex documentation
- a high degree of emotional and cultural intelligence.
A tertiary qualification in archaeology, anthropology or cultural heritage management, or equivalent experience over a period of time is essential.
