Catch is embarking on an exciting journey of growth, as our business grows so does our team. We are now hiring for an Outbound Department Supervisor role for the day shift to join our Fulfilment Centre based in Truganina. This is where the magic happens The Fulfilment Centre strives to provide a high level of customer service and get orders out in a timely manner to our loyal Catch customers.
Reporting to the Department Manager, you will play an essential part in the operational day-to-day running for the Fulfilment Centre and the associated distribution activities. You will ensure that the team members and equipment are employed efficiently, and the warehousing and distribution activities are performed safely, accurately and in accordance with customer requirements. You will be an expert in all things OH&S for site regarding safety, values, operational performance and strategy.
**What you’ll be doing**
What does a normal day in the life of a Department Supervisor look like?
Well, no two days are alike at Catch, but you could probably expect your typical day to include some of the following things:
- Lead, manage, motivate and engage a high performing team; and driving a culture of integrity and trust
- Role model Safe behaviours and ensure that team work safely to protect themselves and others; and eliminate down time due to accidents, injury or work-related illness by ensuring the implementation and maintenance of safe work practices and procedures
- Develop a clear understanding of all aspects of the warehouse processes and the functionality of the Warehouse Management System (WMS) and the Autonomous Mobile Robot (AMR) System
- Monitor daily activities to ensure that work is performed safely, efficiently in accordance with procedures; and within the customer expected timeframes
- Participate in Continuous Improvement Teams in formulating recommendations for improvements to work processes
- Ensure team members are properly trained and inducted in site procedures and in the use of material-handling equipment, AMR system and daily task management
- Develop the competence of individual employees by identifying, organising training and work experience necessary to meet an individual’s development needs
- Set clear goals and expectations for the team
- Measure performance, provide feedback, and hold staff accountable
- Promote a culture of learning and accountability in staff, and provide a supportive environment to encourage staff growth and development.
**The skills you'll have**
- Relevant qualification in Logistics Management or a related discipline; or preparedness to undertake such study to complement the role and the business requirements.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role, managing a small team in a fast-paced environment, preferably within a Fulfilment Centre or DC setting.
- Knowledge of warehousing distribution and best practices including areas of receiving, put away, picking/replenishment, dispatch and inventory control.
- Good computer skills with the ability to use computerised Warehouse Management System (WMS).
- Ability to determine manpower and equipment to meet scheduled workloads, using the flexibility provided to minimise labour costs.
- Flexibility to work a variety of hours as business demands.
- Ability to understand processes and quickly adapt to change as required.
- Practical OH&S knowledge to lead a best practise safety culture.
- Proven problem-solving ability with solutions-orientation.
