**Your role**:
A Gap Year in the Army gives you an exciting taste of life in the ADF with just one year’s commitment. You’ll get paid for meaningful work, receive full Army training, and enjoy memorable experiences - unlike anything you’d encounter in a regular gap year.

In your Army Transport Gap Year, you’ll be part of the team that manages vital equipment and supplies by road, rail, sea and air in a range of military vehicles. You’ll also learn to operate and manage a range of vehicles including 4WDs, off-road forklifts, trucks and road trains.

After finishing your Gap Year program, you can choose to continue a career in the Army or you can use your new skills and experiences in future careers outside the ADF.

**Duties**:
In your Army Transport Gap Year, your duties may include:

- Managing the movement of cargo and supplies
- Supporting people in training and operations
- Operating and managing 4WDs, off-road forklifts, trucks and road trains
- Operating hand managing heavy machinery forklifts, cranes and small landing craft.

Once you complete your Initial Military Training, you’ll grow your skills and expertise in one of the following roles:
**Driver** - get behind the wheel of high performing military vehicles, from a Mercedes Benz G-Wagon to a 110-tonne heavy equipment transporter.

**Cargo Operator** - ensure crucial cargo gets to its destination on time by learning to operate heavy machinery from forklifts to cranes to small landing craft.

**Salary**:
Upon completion of your Initial Military and Employment Training, you’ll enjoy a starting salary of at least $79,615, plus 16.4% superannuation.

**Apply**:

- Be aged between 17-24 years old
- Be an Australian citizen
- Have completed Year 10, with passes in English and Maths
- Have a valid Australian driver’s license which is not suspended or cancelled
