
Team Leader Building Cleaning

To lead a team and be involved with provide cleaning services to ensure Council assets
and facilities are kept in a clean, tidy and hygienic condition for the use of staff and the
public.

**Staff Responsibility**:Up to 15
**Key Internal Relationships**:Internal Staff, occupiers of BMCCs built assets
**Key External Relationships**:General Public, tenants and usergroups within
BMCCs built assets
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Contribute to help Council deliver its sustainability goals.
- Provide Team Leadership to effectively manage the day-to-day operation of the
section, delivering outcomes that meet specifications of contract or service level
agreement, or as otherwise directed by the Manager Property & Fleet Maintenance.
- Develop a “team culture” within the section based on a positive attitude towards
attendance, increased productivity and work performance.
- Effectively encourage, promote and enforce safe work practices within the workforce
and maintain safe work sites in line with BMCCs WHS Management System and
Policies.
- Ensure that any work place injury or incident is reported and investigated promptly in
accordance with the adopted policies and procedures
- Ensure that all vehicles, plant and equipment are maintained in good working condition
and in a clean and tidy condition by the drivers/operators.
- The incumbent will be required to operate across the LGA throughout various built
assets.
- Ensure that on-site risk assessments are completed in accordance with the SafeWork
guidelines and the WHS Act and that measures are put in place for the prevention of
work-place injuries.
- Work maybe required on weekends and Public Holidays.
- Clean scheduled buildings, sites, high profile tourist destinations and other areas as
directed.
- Daily clean of offices, amenities, common areas, glazing, workstations and areas of
foot traffic within and around buildings.
- Liaise with internal staff and report any unresolved service issues and customer
concerns to the Coordinator.
- Report any issues concerning public safety, damaged Council property or other
hazards likely to cause injury to the public in accordance with the specified guidelines.
- Wear uniform / clothing supplied by BMCC as well as required Personal Protective
Equipment (PPE) appropriate to the task being undertaken.
- Other duties as specified by the Coordinator or Manager.

**Workplace Health & Safety**_ _
Ensure compliance with WHS obligations and responsibilities as outlined in Councils
policies and procedures and under the relevant WHS legislation. These include but are
not limited to: identifying potentially unsafe situations or work practices and notifying your
Supervisor or Manager (or the Health, Safety Manager/Area Safety Representative);
never performing a task that you believe is dangerous or for which you do not have the
experience, or have not received appropriate instructions and training or where the correct
equipment to carry out the task safely is not available; always work in a safe manner and
in accordance with safety instructions, where applicable; use the work equipment supplied
for the job, in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions), and any personal
protective equipment, which the Council deems necessary and has provided; be safety
aware and report any actions to your line manager which will assist the Council to meet
its legal workplace health and safety obligations.
You have the right to cease or direct cessation of unsafe work. In addition you are required
at all times to comply with Councils Asbestos Management Plan and Policy.
**Compliance & Risk**
You will be required to undertake team-based risk assessments and pre starts on site to
identify, control and escalate risks to the Coordinator.
**COMMUNICATION
- The position is part of a team where communication and co-operation within the team
is essential to carry out the duties of the position. Escalation of safety or maintenance
