**About the Role**
- The Geophysicist - Development reports to the Team Leader Cooper Oil Subsurface and works as a part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide geophysical support across our onshore assets.

The purpose of the Geophysicist is to provide Geophysical input to mature both new potential and existing development/appraisal opportunities. This includes providing structurally valid seismic interpretations, incorporating the use of seismic modelling, rock physics, and seismic attributes to describe the subsurface to frame and deliver Subsurface Field Development Plans and identify remaining potential along with any associated risks and uncertainties.

The role will be a permanent member of the Subsurface and Technical Onshore Upstream Team based within the Brisbane Corporate office.

Key accountabilities include:

- Generate structurally valid seismic interpretations, incorporating the use of seismic modelling and seismic attributes to describe the sub-surface across Santos Onshore acreage.
- Provide Geophysical support to field-wide and semi-regional studies to identify and provide recommendations to maximize remaining field potential and value to Santos Ltd.
- Responsible for the integration of well data into regional and local geological frameworks, to tie well data with seismic data to refine or delineate high-graded targets.
- Aid in the quality control of seismic processing and reprocessing of seismic data.
- Recommend appropriate work programs, including drilling, seismic, and geophysical studies to senior management and Joint Venture participants.
- To help maintain integrated Field Development Plans in collaboration with reservoir engineers, geologists, and other staff within the team using a multi-disciplined approach.
- To collaborate strongly with Cooper Near Field Exploration, Santos Functional Leads, JV Participants, and other stakeholders to optimise integrated appraisal and development plans and processes.
- To progress identified drilling opportunities to ‘execution ready’ status. This process may include peer assist/review, preparation of documentation and presentations to obtain necessary Santos, Joint Venture, and Government approvals. Effective and timely engagement and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- To work closely with Drilling and Completions, Operations Geology, Project Management, and other external partners to support drilling operational activities.

**About You**
- You will have a continuing plan for self-development within the field of Geophysics to remain up to date with the most recent technology, learnings and practices within the industry.
- You will work well within a multidisciplinary team, managing a range of internal stakeholders and have an innate ability to support and mentor less experienced personnel by sharing your knowledge and expertise.
- In addition to this you will demonstrate a technical experience which includes though is not limited to:

- Advanced experience in 2D/3D seismic interpretation, velocity analysis/modelling, and depth conversion.
- High level of technical expertise in seismic interpretation and analysis including quantitative reservoir characterisation.
- Structural geology skills and experience which will include extensional and compressional systems and basement involved tectonics.
- Experience in Australian fluvio-deltaic basins, particularly Cooper and Eromanga Basins will be highly regarded.
- Demonstrated knowledge of workstation software - Petrel, Hampson-Russel, Paleoscan and others.
