Provide high-level professional and technical advice to improve the knowledge of the mineral and energy resource potential of Queensland in line with current national and international tectonic models and concepts to address state-wide priorities to meet both industry and government demands.
- Provide high-level professional advice and recommendations to high-level internal and external stakeholders on the mineral and energy exploration and resource issues for Queensland, particularly in areas of high exploration potential for minerals.
- Provide specialist technical and scientific information and advice on the latest modelling and resource assessment methodologies and techniques in line with current national and international tectonic and geodynamic models and concepts.
- Identify gaps in current knowledge to guide future project design and deliverables.
- Represent the department at the state and federal level in industry and community forums and in collaborative activities with agencies from other states.
- Assist with the management of joint projects with other agencies, partners and surveys to advance geoscience research priorities, and identify and develop collaborative projects which enhance national and state priorities.
- Develop networks and consult with peers, departmental staff, clients, industry and community groups, and other agencies to achieve strategic goals and objectives and meet departmental priorities.
- Assist with maintaining quality procedures and systems to ensure efficient and effective geoscientific investigation and compilation of data collected by government and industry to improve geological map coverage, to meet national and international standards, and to allow improved industry and government decision making.
- Provide support and mentoring to multidisciplinary work teams to achieve strategic goals and objectives, and in maintaining a highly skilled and motivated professional workforce.
- Contribute to the business improvement initiatives within the Geological Survey of Queensland.
- Other duties as directed and required.
